Year: 2007
Name: KG4
Drive Train:
A unique spring tensioning system worked to keep Kate Gleason 4's chain intact through the rough 2 minute matches our robot journeyed through.
The drive train included 3 wheels on each side that were powered by two CIM motors on each side.
Lift:
After many concept designs, young engineers on team 578 came up with a simple, yet efficient, design. It involved capturing a tube in a cut-out at the front of the robot, and then applying pressure to the tube with a pneumatic piston.
This simple design allowed the tube to be lifted to the second level of the spider and then dropped onto that level.
Spec Sheet:
- could score on first and second levels.
- weighed 99 pounds
- could take off a spoiler tube on the second level
- compact electronics board
- sleek and simple design
- spring tensioning system on the drive train
- average score of 3 tubes per match
