Students at Fairport High School started up the Fairport Robotics team, Blue Lightning, in 1997. Over the years, the team has worked very hard to win awards in the FIRST Robotics competitions.

Robot Evolution

From 1997 to 2006, Blue Lightning has built a number of different robots. Below are the robots we have pictures of:

This is our robot from 1998 when we were team 36.

Name: Driver Has < than $25

Name: KG-1
Name: KG-2
Name: KG-3

As you can see, some pretty interesting robots have been built in the past. You may be wondering what KG stands for: Kate Gleason. Kate Gleason was the first women engineer to be inducted into the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the daughter of the founder of Gleason Works, our corporate sponsor. In the past, Fairport Robotics has won a number of awards for everything from costume design to robot function. You can read the timeline below to see what the team has won in the past, or just watch by clicking here.
