The Name
KG-3 is the robot we have for the 2006 competition. KG standads for Kate Gleason, who was the first women engineer to be inducted into the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. We believe that the name we gave to the robot tells people in the FIRST organization, and people outside the FIRST competition that engineering can be done by everyone, not just men.

Our robot was built to withstand robots crashing into it, people throwing balls at it, and even category 5 hurricanes. Overall teams choosing 578 as a member of their alliance will find that our robot not only looks like a tank but it is as strong as a tank.
