We have packed up and stored our robot for the season.
Pre Kickoff
- The team organized a fundraiser to purchase a transport cart for the robot.
- The team had a chance to build team work skills through minor problem solving challenges.
1st Week
- We wait in a crowded room before the rooms are open to the web cast.
- We visit RIT and watch the NASA webcast Live.
- As the password to the pdf file is shown for the brief moment team members get their camera phones out and take pictures of the code.
- Mr. Breese one of our team advisors rolls in 7 boxes of pizzas within minutes our team managed to finish it all off.
- After pizza the team got together to talk about the strategies on how we will play, and we developed a design for the robot.
2nd Week
- We went through the kit of parts and played a "name that part game".
- We finalized a design for the robot.
- The team broke into different subteams and was instructed by each student team leader on how to do stuff and what they would work on over the next few weeks.
- The website team developed a basic list of ideas on what would be on the future website. And made a concept layout on how the site would look.
- The transport cart is completed
3rd Week
- The structure team developed the first ball launcher. But plans change when another idea for a ball launcher comes to life. This time they would use a convayer.
- The media/spirit team worked on a t-shirt design and a few button designs.
- The programming team completes the controller programming.
- The drive team completes half of the robots base.
- The field construction team completes the playing field.
- The website team develops a template and starts work on a few sections.
4th week
- The structure team gets half way through the second ball launcher with the help of the electrical team.
- The website team orders the domain and completes all the sections seen on the website now.
- The programming team completes 3 of the 5 autonomous modes.
- The drive team completes the robot base and helps the structure team work on the convayer
- The spirit/media team finishes the first newsletter and starts to work on the chairmen award submission.
- The animation team completes their animation.
5th week
- The first robot is almost completed and the drive team, structures team, and electrical team start working on a second robot.
- The website team puts the final touches on the website and submits it.
- The media/spirit team are almost done with the chairmans award.
- A crate to ship the first robot rolls in, and a few team members paint it.
- The programming team finishes the autonomous modes and program the robots.
- The first robot is tested and works great.
6th Week
- The second robot is completed and the first robot is shipped.
- The team tests the two robots to make sure they worked well.
- The spirit/media team submits the chairmans award.
- The team develops a pre regional strategy.
The days before the finger lake regional
- The second robot is showcased and demonstrated the curious employees at gleason works.
- The team mascot is refurbished by the spirit team.
- Team members work together to see who would do well on the drive team.
- More strategizing for the team
- Scounting begins.
At the Finger Lakes Regional
- Team 578 ends up in 5th place during the aim high competition.
- We take home the x-cats best cart design award.
- We also win the General Motors Industrial Design award.
Right before Boston.
- We took down the playing field in gleason works, and cleaned up.
- We had a perant meeting for our boston trip.
Boston
- Team 578 Took home the award for the best website design.
- Team 578 was in the 3rd place alliance.
After Boston
- Team 578 packed up KG-3 in a storage facility.
