2007:
Name: KG4
Drive Train:
A unique spring tensioning system works to keep Kate Gleason 4's chain intact through the rough 2 minute matched our robot will journey through.
The drive train included 3 wheels on each side that were powered by two CIM motor on each side.
Lift:
After many concept designs, young engineers on team 578 came up with a simple, yet efficient, design. It involved capturing a tube in a cut-out at the front of the robot, and then applying pressure to the tube with a pneumatic piston.
This simple design allows the tube to be lifted to the second level of the spider and then dropped onto that level.
Spec Sheet:
- Can score on first and second levels.
- Weights 99 pounds
- Can take off a spoiler tube on the second level
- Compact electronics board
- Sleek and simple design
- Spring tensioning system on the drive train
- Average Score of 3 tubes
